Kanati, a male American kestrel (Falco sparverius) is our fourth hit-by-car victim. He was hit just shortly after fledging at approximately two months old. His right wing was badly damaged, so bad that he often misses his perches due to the imbalance of his wings. Kanati is our youngest, at two years old in April 2013. Kachina and Kanati are housed together, and, due to their big age difference, have earned the nicknames “Harold and Maude” (after the popular movie with the same title).
